EMERGENCY BROADCAST NETWORK
Jim Corcoran

So, wanna come play with Emergency Broadcast Network? If you've got a computer with a CD-ROM drive, or even if you don't, you can. Telecommunication Breakdown, the long awaited CD-ROM from EBN, has, at last, arrived.

Come over here and mellow out with your Providence, RI, video-ish, techno-ish performance artists. Their new disc is audio enhanced, which means that you can use the interactive CD-ROM portion on your computer, or simply listen to the CD's twenty audio tracks.

And while those in the know (and there's lots of you) would argue that EBN is video-based, the audio "soundtrack" portion of the disc will receive the approval of the most discrimination technoheads around. See, an equally high caliber of people were involved in producing the new disc -- Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto, ambient/video/electronic pioneer Brian Eno, EBN cohort Greg DeoCampo of AVX Design, and local post-production craftsman Toby Fitch.

Give the "Amazing New EBN Electro-Optical Enhanced CD a whirl. Bug out to tracks like "Sexual Orientation" and "Shoot The Mac-10". Then, get to a CD-ROM drive and plug in. Famous people are inside your computer waiting for you right now. All your special media friends -- like Ross Perot. Ted Koppel. And many, many more.

The CD-ROM portion of the disc contains three full-length EBN videos and an interactive video wall which allows you to learn about EBN (like where they went to college, for instance...if you don't know this, you can find out fast). You can scroll up and down through the lyrics, scroll up, scroll down, up, down, up, down...it's fun! Just point 'n' click through a virtual bombardment of information, crystal-clear quality, lots of colorful, splashy video, and the music.

Tongue-and-cheek though they may be, these guys really do deliver the "hours of quality entertainment" that zany EBN frontman Joshua Pearson hypes at the intro of the program. Endless and endless, no two voyages are quite alike.

After infinity, there's even more. Telecommunication Breakdown also comes with a bonus gift -- the EBN Interactive CD Booklet, a Mac-compatible floppy disc jam-packed with lots of valuable EBN info.

Telecommunication Breakdown, by Emergency Broadcast Network. Your home entertainment system will never be the same. (TVT)
