art school in Vienna in 1908.

Nolde was one of several artists
represented among 650 pieces
brought together for the
"Entartete Kunst"
(Degenerate Art)
exhibit in Munich in 1937
for condemnation and defamation.
Hitler believed that
the art works exhibited were
"creations of a diseased imagination"
and they were ultimately
destroyed.
