***ADVISORY TO THE READER***
eight months ago when we were devising our master plan for world domination....um, excuse me...i mean, when we were figuring out future episode topics and when they would be published, little did we realize that SABOTAGE would be the word du jour for Summer 1996. i mean, every time i pick up a newspaper, turn on the TV or radio, the omnipresent theme of sabotage is screaming at me...maybe i'm just a little too involved with my work here at EP...but it can't be denied...the recent olympic bombing, the TWA flight 800 fiasco, the new volkswagon commercials, not to mention the countless terrorist attacks all over the world on a veritable weekly, if not daily, basis...sabotage is a current issue (no pun intended!). however, it should be known that our motivation for producing this episode of Entropy Press lies not with these highly visual manifestations of sabotage, but with a much less publicized and personal event that transpired last year.

on August 28, 1995 at 1:35 pm an airplane exploded in mid-flight. the pilot and only person on board was my father, John E. McIntosh. this episode is dedicated to my father as well as to the events leading up to and creating this particular incident last August. this episode therefore, is peppered with actual documents and information which have not allowed me to rule out the possibility of sabotage.

as i found myself immersed in conversations surrounding the topic of sabotage, i realized that the act of sabotage is actually a common occurrence, whether we are sabotaging our own lives, or those around us... and since sabotage is so common to the human experience, the word "sabotage" itself is very hard for people to universally associate with because it is applicable to so many situations. upon understanding this, we at Entropy Press, asked our readers to define in one word what sabotage is. (click here for some of the results.)

interestingly enough, this poll illustrates one of the basic concepts Entropy Press hopes to perpetually convey...that reality is based upon the individual's frame of reference, and therefore no one perspective is any more valid than any other (see episode one "what is entropy?" the article entitled "HELLO!"). this individual frame of reference can be chemically imposed, such as the chemistry which makes up our human envelopes (this loosely unites our perceptions as humans) or defined as our individual brain chemistry, which can cause a range of different responses to the same event (one person may find something "depressing" while another finds it "humorous" or yet another "curiously interesting"). another factor impacting the individual frame of reference is, of course, experiential (which can vary vastly from person to person due to culture, belief systems, age, parenting, level of education/conformity, etc.). upon realizing all this, it is not hard to see how formerly impervious, objective structures such as time, language (as in our example above), and logic become subjective occurrences and not universal truths.

philosophizing aside, it should be known that we do not intend the SABOTAGE episode to serve as a handbook for the saboteur (if you are interested in information of that kind i would refer you to our 'zine review section as well as the old stand-by The Anarchist Cookbook or any of the currently popular "revenge" books available...but remember don't check these out on your own library card!). this episode simply collects the issues that have personally touched our lives and/or the random submissions we have received on the topic. of course, feedback in any form is more than welcome and appreciated! you can contact us at:
